Prempeh College has seen a change in the normal time-table of the Ashanti
Regional Inter Colleges Athletic Competition. Prempeh has normally been in
the Zone 4 of the competition but this year has been different.
Prempeh
travels to the Obuasi Len Clay stadium today to face schools like Kings
High, Kumasi Anglican, New Edubiase and Asanteman Secondary today in Zone 1.
In the girls division, representatives from St Louis, Prince of Peace will
also battle for the ultimate trophy.
The battle of supremacy begins today as these top athletic schools strive to
win the trophy from Prempeh College. Prempeh has over the years kept the
inter-co trophy as their own in whatever zone they find themselves.
With the exit of ace athletes of the college such as Atiso and Eric Goloe,
the task seems to be daunting. That notwithstanding, the boys have promised
the headmaster and all Amanfoo of the trophy this year. Speaking to the
school before their departure at assembly today, the sports prefect, Eric
Nyarko delivered a speech that moved everybody.
He made it emphatically
known to all Amanfoo that, the college has the spirit of "kum apem a apem
beba" literally meaning, "if you kill thousand, thousand will resurface."
The exit of Eric Goloe means no harm to the college as another talent from
the Goloe family is in the fold of the Amanfoo. Frank Goloe according to the
sports master, Mr Lartey will even do better than the semi-finalist of the
World Youth Athletics contest in 2005. The gentlemen have also prepared a
host of songs which would be sung at the Len Clay stadium to cheer the
athletes up.
This trophy is the bona fide property for the college so there would not be
any sweat for it. The ultimate for the gentlemen from Sofoline is however
the Super Zonals trophy will they would like to retain. prempeh.org will
bring you toda's results so stay tuned.
