The day promised to be good as the first contest was superbly won by Prempeh
College. The 100m race that draws a lot of people to the stadium the second
day of inter-co had Prempeh's two representatives in the final. It could be
reckoned that this particular race calls a lot of bets.
Headmasters,
teachers, parents and even students bet on this race. Gone are those days
when Samuel Adade used to fill the pockets of all Amanfoo who bet are the
stadium but there is one young man who wants to repeat or surpass what Adade
used to do.
This man is Frank Goloe. Frank set the place ablaze when he won
the 100m race convincingly at the Len Clay Sports Stadium. The joy in the
air for Amanfoo was so much.
Solomon Konadu placed 4th in the 100m race. Joseph Trezeguet placed third
in the 5000m race though he had some problems with his health prior to the
race while Elijah took the 4th position. In the 1500m race, Elijah took the
2nd position while Trezeguet placed 4th.
There was then time for some field
events. Maxwell Yeboah came first in the discuss. His compatriot Jeffrey
Karikari came 3rd in the men's javelin. Seth Osei Sarpong won the pole vault
while the shot putt was won by Nana Akosa.
In the men's 110m hurdles, Isaac Mensah placed third while Samuel Boakye
took the 5th position. The 4 by 400 which was represented by Frnak Goloe,
Patrick Yeboah, Eric Nyarko and Prince Asubonteng crowned the day for the
gentlemen from the college.
At the end, Prempeh won the trophy by earning 131 points followed by Tepa
Secondary with 95 points. Kumasi Anglican Secondary who were strong
contenders on the first day placed 3rd while Toase managed to book the last
place that sends them into the super-zonal.
