OWASS hosts and loses while Prempeh tops them all

Tuesday, February 12, 2008

This year's Ashanti inter-schools cross country competition scheduled for Opoku Ware School High (OWASH) ended this Saturday, 7th February, 2008. The competion was in two parts. One part involved all the girls schools in the region whilst the second part involved the boys schools in the region.

In the girls contest, St. Monica’s High School snatched the trophy convincingly with no tough challenge from the other teams. Unfortunately for Prempeh, Yaa Asantewaa Girls High School (Yagss) didn’t prove a force to reckon with at all for the Monche Girls. In girls athletics, in the Ashanti region, the school which stands out is always Munche. For Yagss, they knew well that if they weren’t able to even whisk the trophy, their boys, Prempeh, would be equal to the task and bring their joy back to them.

In the boys competition OWASH, Prempeh’s arch rival, was seriously looking for a host and win affair but unfortunately for them, Prempeh’s Apoka aborted their preconceived idea. The run wasn’t easy at all, but the indefatigable Apoka, a form one boy, sent the Owareans to sleep.

The Owareans quickly recoiled into their dormitories after the defeat. As usual Owass placed 2nd and the 3rd position was snatched by another Prempeh boy. Prempeh boys with great enthusiasm began singing jama songs. The Owareans, enraged by Prempeh’s jama, started throwing stones and sachets of iced water at the Prempeh boys. As usual Prempeh boys were as calm as ever. The Prempeh boys serenely left the school and took to the streets of Santase singing and dancing. No wonder no school is second to us in terms of discipline.

Prempeh.org caught up with the Apoka and the other boys who ran for the school. They all believed this was a sign of good will in the up-coming interco and superzo athletics. They said this was only a tip of the iceberg and that they were surely going to come first in the up coming athletics competition. They made us aware that they were seriously training for the competition and that training sections at YAGSS for the past months were really yielding fruits. Their word for all Amanfoo was that, they should keep their fingers crossed and rally behind them, and that come what may they would win the interco and the superzo this year.
