Gberg House returns to glorious days

Wednesday, November 1, 2006

Butler once again showed that they are not invincible as they used to be last year. Butler, the defending champions suffered another defeat today at the hands of Guggisberg house.

From the blast of the whistle, the game was really tensed as each of the houses wanted to prove their mettle. Over the years, it has been Guggisberg house who has been winning the school's annual inter-houses but they gave their championship status to Butler house 2 years ago.

Butler thus has been the main force when it comes to soccer in the college. No wonder,`the current captain of the soccer team is a a resident of the house.`Guggisberg scored the goal which gave them the maximum three points in the dying embers of the game.

The presence of the Butler fans who are known to be one of the most vociferous on campus could not help salvage the house from defeat. With this result, Butler looks to be on the brink in their quest to retain the prestigious prempeh.org inter-houses trophy, which comes with thousands of dollars to be shared by the victorious 16 members of the winning team.

Gberg, probably the winningnest house in inter-house football history, currently lies second on the table, trailing Aggrey by a point (though Aggrey has a game in hand). But G'berg is the only house that has defeated Aggrey this year and the confident Gbergians believe they can beat their neighbours a second time.
