Introduction to the 2006/07 Prempeh.org Soccer League

Tuesday, October 10, 2006

Owing to the current teachers strike, the Headmaster and his staff decided after a staff meeting that the Prempeh.org Soccer League opportunity be extended to the boys right away in order to keep them active and happy on campus.

Sadat Karim, his talents unveiled at the Prempeh.org league last year earned him a professional contract in Europe at an incredibly young age.
A special Prempeh.oeg Soccer League inauguration ceremony, which was grand, was held at the Osae Assembly Hall yesterday in an atmosphere remniscent of last year's Inter-Houses Quizzes League launching.

The Headmaster decided that an inauguration ceremony was necessary and gave us only a day's notice to invite our friends from the media. Several of the masters, including Lartey, Ofosuhene and Barimah gave out speeches concerning the importance of website and the league and their impact.

The story that Ahmed Deedat Amoako and last year's form 1 soccer league sensation Sadat Karim have signed professionally with Swedish first division side Bunkeflo FC has invigorated everyone on the campus.

Sadat was supposed to have started his form 2 year this September, but he is now in Sweden, playing alongside our immediate-past soccer captain Ahmed Deedat Amoako in the Swedish first division.

A Swedish tourish who witnessed the Prempeh.org soccer Challenge last year at Sofoline approached that duo and put them in touch with a Swedish Club. Ahmed therefore quit the national Under-17 team to join the European professional side.

Nearly everyday, a foreign agent or a foreign university coach sends in a correspendence to the school asking for players that have appeared on this website to come and play for them. They come with printouts from the website showing profiles of players and specifically asking for "Otoo, Ahmed, Okei and Amoah."

When Mr. Lartey returned from Thailand earlier this month, several letters had arrived from foreign coaches asking for contact with these players.

The instant international fame people gain when their profiles appear here, and the website's recent recognition as the nation's best has invigorated all the young Prempeh people and that was why prempeh.org has become the focus of attention on campus.

The league is a two-round program which will see each house playing the other twice -- 16 games per house. This also explains why we have expanded our bugdet to provide a very high reward for the ultimate champion. The games begin on Tuesday, October 10. There will be several matches each day.

We wish all the houses the best in the quest to win the trophy and the cash awards.
