An update from Winneba: our stars in the Starlets camp

Wednesday, July 26, 2006

The selection program for the new generation of Black Starlets (national Under-17 team) is on a break. Our boys returned to Kumasi for a while and are expected back in Winneba for continuation of the training and selection of the final 23 players.

Prempeh's contribution to the squad includes goalkeeper Otoo, defenders Ahmed Amoako and Stephen Okei, and midfielder Paul Manu.

The manager of the national side, Coach Bashiru is looking for players with significant height. Consequently, it appears Paul Manu may not make the list because of his small stature and the fact that opponents easily manage to push him around. He may have the talent to succeed on the field but he lacks the requisite physical structure to dominate at that level at this time.

The boys call prempeh.org nearly everyday with a progress report; we will be joining them there in a few days so that we can bring our readers more reports and pictures.
