Milo football season is here, Prempeh beats West ham United 2-1
Monday, November 6, 2006
The college team in preparation towards this year's Ashanti Regional
inter-schools championship played a friendly match today. West Ham United,
a second division side in Kumasi gave the boys a good run for their money
as the college's coach attempts to fine tune his team for the
qualifiers come 14th November, 2006.
Prempeh College scored first through a goal by the inspirational captain of
the side who is currently hailed as the "Kaka" of the college. West Ham
United however proved why they are in the second division when the
equalised and started putting immense pressure on the Prempeh lads. Mr
Lartey therefore subsituted the form ones who were having it difficult to
play against the physical West Ham United players and brought on fresh
limbs.
Just as the game was heading for a draw, Charles Brenya, known as "Striker,"
proved why he was given that nickname as he beat two defenders to net home
the winner.
Prempeh take part in the qualifiers for the Ashanti Regional Milo
championship on the 14th November and therefore will play more friendlies
as the coach tries to play the form one in the squad.
People have been impressed so far by the fact that, while our opponents may have not yet kicked a ball this year,
our soccer league has ensured that the Prempeh football team has gained some match fitness. Mr. Lartey has been very pleased, crediting
prempeh.org for advancing the sports program at Sofoline and helping young people succeed.
