Friday, June 8, 2007

New sports facilities under construction include this restroom, clubhouse and a pool

Prempeh College, along with Paa Joe Stadium (KNUST), Ridge Park (Kotoko's training grounds), and KBL (Kumasi Brewery Ltd) pitch have been selected as training grounds for the 2008 African Cup of Nations football tournament (CAN 2008).

Conseguently, the college is undergoing various changes as the CAN 2008 approaches. There have been numerous constructional activities in the college these days.

The school soccer pitch is undergoing another re-grassing, the volley, handball and lawn tennis courts are going to have seats. Though the college is undertaking some of these activities, the LOC is also helping.

The lawn tennis court premises is set to have a swimming pool and a facility that will help players wash down after training and also respond to the nature's call if the need be.

Stadium-like seats are being introduced onto Volleyball courts

In the past, sportsmen had to go to the nearby Opoku Ware house to use the washroom facilities and the ladies that visited the college for sports had so much trouble. But this is bound to change with the construction of this excellent facility.

The grasses are also going to be green again.

In another development, the Assembly Hall which is still under construction had to be broken down to make room for extra capacity as the architect felt the capacity will be small when they build it according to the previous pattern.

The new Assembly Hall is still undergoing construction and there is the hope that it will be completed before this year's Speech and Prize-giving day.
