Tuesday, May 30, 2006

Coach Lartey, Coach Asibey and Coach Ofosuhene with two members of the victorious team.

Prempeh College, the most successful hockey team in Ashanti sports, yesterday bagged another trophy when they beat Technology Secondary by two goals to one in the annual Ashanti Regional Hockey competition.

This latest championship title came at the expense of Technology Secondary School, Prempeh's conquerors in last year's final.

It apeared Tech was going to defeat Prempeh in a second successive final when the Tech Sec boys scored a goal in the early minutes of the game.

The victorious Prempeh team fought for the equaliser some few minutes to the end of the first half.

In the second half, the captain of the soccer team, Ahmed Deedat came into the game and that brought so much unity and concentration among the players.

The Prempeh boys then took the zeal that they had amassed and scored the second goal to win the match.

In the second half, a player of Prempeh College was injured so had to be rushed to the hospital.

Before the final, Prempeh beat schools like Kumasi Anglican, Asanteman Secondary, Kumasi Academy and Antoa Secondary, defeating Antoar in the semi-final of the competition.

The ace coach, Mr Asibey could not hide his joy along side Mr Ofosuhene who had coached the boys for a long time now.

The sports masters believe however that this is a sign of good things to come this term.

Prempeh won the 2005/06 athletics Championship as well.
