Prempeh College, the most successful hockey team in Ashanti sports,
yesterday bagged another trophy when they beat
Technology Secondary by two goals to one in the annual Ashanti
Regional Hockey competition.
This latest championship title came at the expense of Technology Secondary School,
Prempeh's conquerors in last year's final.
It apeared Tech was going to defeat Prempeh in a second successive final when the Tech Sec boys
scored a goal in the early minutes
of the game.
The victorious Prempeh team fought for the equaliser some few minutes to the
end of the first half.
In the second half, the captain of the soccer
team, Ahmed Deedat came into the game and that brought so much unity
and concentration among the players.
The Prempeh boys then took the zeal that they had amassed and scored
the second goal to win the match.
In the second half, a
player of Prempeh College was injured so had to be rushed to the
hospital.
Before the final, Prempeh beat schools
like Kumasi Anglican, Asanteman Secondary, Kumasi Academy and Antoa
Secondary, defeating Antoar in the semi-final of the competition.
The ace coach, Mr Asibey could not hide his joy along side Mr Ofosuhene
who had coached the boys for a long time now.
The sports masters believe however that this is a sign of good things
to come this term.
Prempeh won the 2005/06 athletics Championship as well.
