...Ahmed Deedat and Sadat Karim sign with Swedish Division I side
Wednesday, October 11, 2006
"Atiemo should stop terminating the future of Goloe, Ahmed and the rest... they might get the chance to feature
for higher national disciplines and also might get the chance to play for top football clubs in Europe.
Leave them alone, Atiemo, if not you would be soliciting some kind of help from them when they
start 'chopping" the $ by playing for Chelsea and Barcelona...."
- Joe Dejoe, a prempeh.org forumer's admonition to Atiemo in March 2006 when a story broke that he was abusing our sports stars
Deedat of the Aggrey House Class of 2006: He suffered as a Prempeh student under Atiemo's hand
but he is very happy now playing professionally in Europe.
Last year's form 1 soccer sensation Sadat Karim and our immediate-past captain, Ahmed Deedat, are now in Sweden, where they play professionally
for Swedish side Bunkeflo IF.
The two talented boys called our phone last weekend to inform us about their new milestone. The very fortunate boys thanked prempeh.org for continuously
showcasing their talents on the internet and also for giving them a platform on which they gained attention.
Ahmed and Sadat credit the website and its visionary founder for their achievements. Ahmed, winner of the 2005 National Player of the Year and 2006 Best Defender Award winner
of the national Milo competition, was selected for the national Under-17 football team to partner his Prempeh mate Stephen Okei in central defence.
However, Ahmed quit the national team selection program and went to Swden when his new team came for him.
Both Ahmed and Sadat were discovered by a Swedish tourist who visited Sofoline and watched one of the Prempeh.org Soccer League games. The visitor approached the
2 players and urged them to consider playing professionally in his country. He then put them in touch with an agent who negotiated the deal for them.
Sadat Karim, who was an unknown entity in the form one class last year, equally owes his discovery to prempeh.org.
After playing for his house in our league, he did not even make
the school team. However, when our preferred strikers were left without a valid identification card in a crucial match last December, Mr. Lartey selected
him as a substitute striker based on his performance in the soccer league. But because of the great coaching and teaching of Mr. Lartey, Sadat soon burgeoned into
a first-rate striker good enough to ply his trade in Europe at a very young age.
Mr. Atiemo, our now conscience-stricken and remorseful Senior Housemaster, physically and verbally tortured Ahmed for he whole year! Atiemo showed
Ahmed so much cruelty
that the boy de-boardinized himself, which is unprecedented in the school's history. Under the pretext of "checking" school fees, Mr. Atiemo often
went to pounce on Ahmed with his cane when other students with debt were not suffering a similar fate. He could rush on to Ahmed on the Appean Way
and pounce on him
with every force he could muster just to inflict pain on him. Because of his hatred for the boy, Atiemo repeatedly refused to offer the school
soccer team any food at the
dining hall after their training and the team consequently starved over a period of time.
He was consistently chastized and tortured for having a bright future and for bringing honours to the alma mater. He even made himself a day student to evade the danger of falling
victim to the most extreme form of human wickedness and myopia. But how pleasant it all seems now.
